Why this role matters
Tooling is the first domino. As Hadrian accelerates new product introduction, the ability to fabricate and modify tools quickly is the difference between waiting and shipping. You will be the specialist who removes that bottleneck.
What you'll do
- Fabricate and modify production tooling that enables new product introduction across multiple manufacturing programs.
- Partner directly with engineering to design new tools from the ground up.
- Operate core shop resources: welding, water jet, laser tracking, manual mills and lathes, plus general assembly equipment.
- Maintain, iterate, and improve existing tools as part designs evolve.
- Build scalable processes and standards as the tooling team expands to 3x its current size within six months.
Core competencies
- 6+ years in tooling fabrication with a balance of new-build and modification work.
- Hands-on capability with welding, water jet operation, laser tracking, manual machine tools, and assembly.
- Ability to run autonomously on program-critical timelines with minimal supervision.
- Comfort collaborating closely with engineers on tool design and development.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting approach; default to unblocking quickly.
Nice to have
- Direct experience where tooling was a critical-path item during a ramp.
- History of helping stand up or scale a small but growing tooling function.
- Cross-training across fabrication methods beyond welding and water jet.
- Mentorship experience with less tenured technicians.
