About the role
Join a precision manufacturing team producing high‑quality components. As a Precision OD Grinder Setup Specialist, you’ll own setup and operation of cylindrical grinding equipment to meet demanding specifications.
Role details
- Classification: Temp to Hire
- Compensation: $25–$30 per hour (negotiable for the right candidate)
- Schedule: 1st Shift, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Location: Addison, IL
What you’ll do
- Set up and operate OD/cylindrical grinders
- Hold tight tolerances on outside diameters per print
- Read/interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions (GD&T)
- Select and dress wheels appropriate to material and finish
- Program/adjust speeds, feeds, and grinding parameters
- Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and related metrology tools
- Conduct in‑process checks and final inspections
- Adjust machines to sustain quality and consistency
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation
- Follow company quality procedures and safety standards
What you’ll bring
- 3+ years OD/cylindrical grinding experience preferred
- Deep understanding of grinding operations and machining practices
- Blueprint and GD&T fluency
- Experience holding close tolerances and precision finishes
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools
- Detail‑oriented with a commitment to quality
- Ability to diagnose and resolve common grinder issues
- Self‑starter who works well independently
