Shape world-class parts. Elevate world-class processes.
At Autocam/NN Inc., we build high-performance precision components by pairing inventive thinking with advanced machining. Our people power that success. As our Precision Manufacturing Quality Engineer, you’ll turn ideas into efficient, repeatable, and cost-effective reality on the production floor.
A day in this role
You start by reviewing a new product launch: interpreting complex drawings, applying GD&T, and mapping an APQP plan using the Project Launch Guide and the Autocam Production System (APS). Mid-morning, you’re on the floor optimizing tooling paths and process parameters. In the afternoon, you update cost standards, quote a new part for a customer, and coach operators on SPC and best practices. Before wrap-up, you confirm that process documents and work instructions align with our Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS), and you consult on capital equipment decisions for an upcoming line expansion.
How you’ll make an impact
- Develop standardized procedures and documentation with product teams to ensure consistent quality at optimal cost.
- Provide technical input for capital equipment planning, selection, and implementation.
- Design and refine manufacturing processes and tooling for existing parts and new product introductions.
- Lead APQP teams and drive continuous improvement via the Project Launch Guide and APS.
- Create and maintain precise process documentation, work instructions, and cost standards.
- Quote new parts accurately and maintain/update customer quotations.
- Train operators on machine operation, SPC, document interpretation, and process improvement methods.
- Read complex drawings and apply GD&T to ensure manufacturability and capability.
- Champion compliance with QMS and EMS requirements.
What you bring
- BS in Engineering or equivalent technical training with 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset and lean exposure.
- Comfort with technical documentation, cost estimation, and manufacturing software systems.
- Ability to interpret complex technical documents and communicate effectively across the organization.
- Hands-on background with APQP and GD&T.
