Picture this: A new job traveler lands on your bench. You study the blueprint, choose the right punches and dies, map the bend sequence, and set the CNC program. The Amada press brake hums to life. You check the first article, tweak the machine to hit tight tolerances, and keep parts flowing—safely, consistently, and accurately.
Your impact
- Set up and operate hydraulic/CNC press brakes to produce sheet metal parts to spec.
- Execute CNC setups and rapid changeovers as priorities shift.
- Read and interpret drawings, templates, and bend deduction charts for precise layout.
- Plan operations using deep knowledge of material properties and bending behavior.
- Run auxiliary equipment—notchers, rolls, hardware machines—and RAS panel benders (CNC).
- Handle routine hydraulic maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and fine adjustments.
- Monitor quality throughout the run and implement corrections to maintain tight tolerances.
- Work with teammates to enhance throughput, safety, and cleanliness; support other areas when needed.
Skills and experience
- 1–3 years in press brake operation or comparable metal fabrication work.
- Strong grasp of hydraulics, hydraulic components, and mechanical fundamentals.
- Capability with CNC programming/setup, tooling selection, and machine adjustments.
- Proven blueprint literacy, including bend deduction and fabrication drawings.
- Background with hydraulic press brakes; RAS panel bender experience is a bonus.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication methods and use of standard hand tools.
- High attention to detail, solid problem-solving, and ability to work independently or on a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade certification preferred.
Physical expectations
- Stand for extended periods on a concrete surface.
- Lift 25 pounds or more as required.
- Use manual dexterity for small parts and tooling.
