    Precision CNC Milling Specialist (Rail Systems Manufacturing)

    Role snapshot

    Join our Memphis, Tennessee manufacturing team as a full-time, direct-hire CNC specialist who helps produce precision components for specialty trackwork. You’ll be part of a first-shift crew, Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., working on site to keep production moving safely and efficiently.

    A day in this role

    • Power up a Fanuc-controlled VMC at 6:00 a.m., review prints with GD&T callouts, and plan your setups.
    • Load raw stock and finished parts using an overhead crane; secure workholding and verify tooling.
    • Run parts to specification, making minor program edits and speed/feed tweaks as you learn and grow.
    • Measure features with calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and a CMM to confirm accuracy.
    • Document results, perform routine machine care, and keep your work area orderly and safe.
    • Pitch in on basic assembly using hand and power tools; support teammates to meet schedule.

    What you’ll own

    • Operating CNC milling machines to produce precision components to print.
    • Reading/understanding CNC programs and detailed blueprints with GD&T.
    • Learning minor CNC program edits and adjustments to speeds and feeds.
    • Performing supervised setups and tooling changes as needed.
    • Completing required quality documentation and maintaining 5S standards.
    • Loading/unloading parts on machines by crane.
    • Conducting routine preventive maintenance for optimal performance.

    Minimum qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC, etc.).
    • 5+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing setting.
    • Ability to interpret CNC programs and complex blueprints.
    • Basic mechanical aptitude and shop math.
    • Detail orientation and commitment to quality standards.
    • Ability to work on-site in Memphis, Tennessee.

    Preferred qualifications

    • Associate’s or technical degree.
    • Railroad industry experience.
    • OSHA 10- or 30-hour certification.
    • Forklift certification.
    • Experience operating overhead cranes.

    • CNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC) (Fanuc)
    • CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC) (Haas, Fanuc)
    • CAM Software (Mastercam)
    • G-Code and M-Code
    • CNC tooling; CNC machine setup & changeover
    • Tape measure and precision metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges); CMM
