    Precision CNC Machining Specialist — Turning/Milling

    A day in your role

    You arrive at a clean, well-organized facility and review the day’s work orders. You’ll set up and run CNC lathes, mills, or mill-turns; dial in tools and offsets; verify first-piece features to print; and keep the job moving with in-process checks. Throughout the shift you’ll:

    • Translate engineering drawings and travelers into reliable setups and repeatable processes.
    • Machine parts to blueprint and customer specs while meeting demanding tolerances.
    • Use calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other precision gauges for in-process inspection.
    • Deburr and finish work to specification before packaging for shipment when needed.
    • Maintain part identification, traceability, and lot segregation, documenting results accurately on travelers and inspection records.
    • Identify and segregate nonconforming material and prevent FOD.
    • Communicate promptly about quality concerns, damaged material, or process issues.
    • Uphold AS9100 and customer-specific requirements in every step of the process.
    • Keep your work area safe, neat, and audit-ready; wear eye and hearing protection where required.

    Lead-track impact (for qualified candidates)

    • Coordinate workflow and priorities for turning or milling to hit schedule commitments.
    • Troubleshoot tooling, programming, and process challenges; accelerate root-cause resolution.
    • Create, refine, and optimize CNC programs for quality, efficiency, and throughput.
    • Support first-piece inspections and process validation activities.
    • Coach peers, share best practices, and help elevate department-wide capability.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality and on-time delivery.

    What you bring

    • Hands-on CNC machining experience in a production environment.
    • Fluent in reading blueprints and engineering drawings.
    • Comfortable with calipers, micrometers, indicators, and similar metrology tools.
    • Detail orientation and a quality-first mindset.
    • Clear communication and practical problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team.

    Preferred

    • Working knowledge of GD&T.
    • Experience in an AS9100-certified environment.
    • Brown & Sharpe Micro-Val CMM experience and familiarity with CMM Manager.
    • Background in setup, programming, troubleshooting, and/or leadership.

    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • Technical, vocational, or trade school training preferred.

    Reporting

    • Reports to the Turning or Milling Lead.
    • Lead Machinists report directly to the General Manager.

    Physical requirements

    • Standing and moving throughout the shift.
    • Ability to lift, carry, and handle parts and materials.
    • Manual dexterity for machine operation and inspection.

    Work environment

    • Clean, organized manufacturing facility.
    • Hearing protection in designated areas.
    • Eye protection during designated operations.

    Overtime

    Occasional overtime may be required based on production schedules and business needs.
