    Position Summary

    Hartford HealthCare is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Pre-Admission Testing team, serving patients at Backus Hospital, Windham Hospital, and our Niantic location.

    The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) plays a key role in preparing patients for surgery by conducting comprehensive preoperative evaluations, coordinating required testing, and collaborating with physicians and specialists to optimize patient outcomes. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population while contributing to quality initiatives that improve surgical outcomes and enhance the patient experience.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform comprehensive pre-admission evaluations, including histories and physical examinations (H&Ps).
    • Coordinate all required preoperative testing and medical clearance activities.
    • Order and interpret appropriate laboratory studies, EKGs, imaging, and other diagnostic tests.
    • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, primary care providers, and specialists to ensure patients are optimized for surgery.
    • Facilitate timely, efficient, and patient-centered preoperative care.
    • Participate in system-wide initiatives aimed at standardizing and improving Pre-Admission Testing services.
    • Support efforts to improve surgical outcomes, reduce preventable readmissions, and enhance patient and provider satisfaction.
    • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation consistent with organizational and regulatory standards.

    Qualifications

    • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
    • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN or Physician Assistant in the State of Connecticut.
    • Board Certification as:
    • Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP)
    • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
    • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP)
    • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
    • Physician Assistant
