Patient Services Coordinator / Pre-Services Coordinator
Location: 2013 South Jefferson Street, 2nd Floor, Roanoke, VA 24014
Pay Rate: $17.00/hr
Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Patient Services Coordinator is responsible for scheduling and pre-registering new patients for exams and procedures. This role maintains patient records, prepares forms, verifies patient information, and resolves routine and non-routine issues while following established procedures and guidelines.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls and assess patients' needs.
- Schedule new patient appointments with the appropriate provider.
- Provide appointment details, including time, location, directions, and instructions.
- Maintain and update physician schedules.
- Work with triage nurses to accommodate scheduling requests.
- Obtain patient demographic, insurance, and required pre-visit information.
- Enter patient information accurately into computer systems.
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and co-pays.
- Verify required pre-authorizations are completed before patient visits.
- Follow up with patients regarding missing or outdated insurance information and medical records.
- Train new Patient Services Coordinators on policies and procedures.
- Review coworkers' work and provide procedural guidance.
- Research and resolve escalated issues.
- Identify process gaps and develop tools to improve efficiency.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate's Degree in Finance or Business preferred.
- Four years of revenue cycle experience may be considered in lieu of an associate's degree.
- Minimum 2 years of Patient Pre-Services Coordinator experience required
- Knowledge of scheduling and practice operations preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel required.
- Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days.
