Duties

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide Pre-Employment Training Services (Pre-ETS) to "potentially eligible" and "eligible" students with disabilities being served under the Pre-Employment Career Training Program contract between Tri-County Special Education and the Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Rehabilitation Services with a Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) focus.

b. Work-based Learning Experiences

c. Counseling on Post-Secondary Education

d. Workplace Readiness Training

e. Instruction in Self-Advocacy

  1. Facilitate the completion of Quarterly Knowledge Check information to demonstrate student progress.

  2. Coordinate and collect worksite forms, monthly STEP timesheets, and quarterly progress reports to ensure timely submission. Collect signatures on all required documents.

  3. Obtain verification of employment, such as paycheck stubs, or wage verification to accompany monthly billings.

  4. Complete detailed, accurate case notes/billing of Pre-ETS services provided in DRS WEBCM electronic files.

  5. Proofread/correct all work for accuracy and completeness.

  6. Obtain direction from/provide support to Youth Services Coordinator to coordinate service delivery.

  7. Market/collaborate with local employers for job placement opportunities, coordinate job interviews, support student employment retention, accommodations, obtain updates on student progress.

  8. Assist students with identifying their strengths, interests, abilities, aptitudes, barriers to employment.

  9. Assist students with completing job applications, resumes, and preparing for job interviews.

  10. Serve as a job coach for students to learn basic job skills/promote job retention.

  11. Arrange for and provide DRS specified Match activities:

a. Introduction, awareness, and participation with the Talent Access Portal (TAP) or Illinois WorkNet site

b. Apprenticeship 101 07/17/25

c. IDHS-DRS Sponsorship Form, navigating DRS college assistance, or discussion of Comprehensive Training Program (CTP) available in Illinois

d. Financial Literacy

e. Asking for a Reasonable Accommodation

  1. Maintain detailed Google Calendar of certified personnel time used for providing or arranging qualifying Match DRS activities and/or Pre-ETS.

  2. Work collaboratively and fluidly with Tri-County, DRS, and member district staff in support of a continuum of high-quality service delivery.

  3. Assist with identifying and maintaining a continuous case-finding program and provide program support in an efficient and effective manner.

  4. Contact parents/guardians to provide and collect information on behalf of student growth/program.

  5. Maintain confidentiality of all school and DHS/DRS disability case file records.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum of a Bachelor''s Degree in one of the following: Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, Guidance & Counseling, Social Work, Business and Marketing, Workforce Development, Human Resources, or a closely related field.

  2. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  3. Previous Experience in Job Placement/Retention Preferred

  4. Must demonstrate ability to type 40 wpm.

REPORTS TO: Pre-Employment Career Training Program (PECT) Director

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The contract will be for 195 days per fiscal year, 7.0 hours each work day. The employee will qualify for all other fringe benefits and time off afforded all other employees of similar classification.
