About Allen Matkins

The Practice Growth Specialist is a highly visible professional who works directly with senior firm partners to advance business development, client relationship-building, and market positioning initiatives. The Specialist supports the development and execution of sophisticated partner growth strategies designed to strengthen relationships, expand referral networks, and generate new business opportunities. This role requires a combination of strategic judgment, project management, research, and execution. The Specialist serves as a principal point of coordination between assigned partners and the Business Development & Marketing Department. The position requires a polished, confident, and highly professional presence, as the Specialist interacts regularly with attorneys, clients, prospective clients, referral sources, and business contacts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Practice Development & Growth

  • Maintain a structured pipeline of prospective clients, referral sources, strategic relationships, industry contacts, speaking opportunities, and other business development targets.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, assemble background materials, and track post-meeting action items to support follow-through and accountability.
  • Identify and evaluate prospective client, referral source, and market opportunities.
  • Support strategic initiatives intended to enhance the supported partners’ market positions, professional profiles, and business development opportunities.
  • Coordinate and conduct research and analysis on companies, executives, investors, developers, industries, transactions, and market activity developments to identify relevant relationship and business development opportunities.
  • Support targeted outreach and relationship development initiatives, including introductions, meetings, follow-up, and ongoing engagement.
  • Monitor business development activity and prepare regular reporting on pipeline development, relationships activity, upcoming priorities, and follow-up.
  • Serve as the primary point of coordination between attorneys and Business Development & Marketing, moving initiatives forward through follow-up and execution support.
  • Ensure alignment between practice objectives and broader firm initiatives, campaigns, and marketing-supported growth efforts.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders, external vendors, and other professional service providers, as appropriate.

Client & Referral Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain relationship profiles and relationship maps for key clients, prospective clients, referral sources, industry contacts, and other strategic relationships.
  • Monitor relationship activity and identify opportunities to strengthen engagement with important relationships.
  • Prepare background information for client, prospect, and referral meetings and coordinate with Business Development & Marketing on pitch and proposal materials.
  • Identify gaps in referral coverage and opportunities to strengthen relationship development.
  • Coordinate structured referral outreach efforts, including tracking and follow-up.

Personal Brand & Thought Leadership

  • Execute personal brand and thought leadership strategies across LinkedIn and other social platforms, podcasts and video.
  • In coordination with the Business Development & Marketing Department, track and coordinate opportunities for speaking engagements, podcasts, media coverage, industry events, and professional association leadership.
  • Maintain meticulous records and track visibility efforts and related outcomes, including engagement metrics and downstream opportunities.
  • Ensure that all external-facing communications are consistent with both the firm’s and the partners’ positioning and branding.
  • Maintain accurate records using the firm’s CRM database and use firm systems to monitor relationships, opportunities, outreach, and follow-up.

Executive Support

  • Provide executive-level support, including calendar management, travel coordination, meeting preparation, and other administrative responsibilities that enable the supported partners to focus on client service, business development, and thought leadership.
  • Update attorney biographies, experience lists, and related profile materials on a timely basis.
  • Track deadlines and deliverables, proactively identify issues requiring attention, and coordinate appropriate resources to maintain progress.
  • Exercise sound judgment in prioritizing matters and proactively advancing initiatives with limited day-to-day supervision.
  • Assist with communications and follow-up when appropriate, exercising discretion and sound judgment with respect to confidential, sensitive, and high-priority matters.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience. 3+ years of experience in a professional services, business development, executive support, or a related client-facing environment. Experience in a law firm, commercial real estate, financial services, consulting, or other professional services preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting partners, senior attorneys, or executive leadership in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional project management and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of professionalism, judgment, and discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with the ability to develop high-quality documents, reports, and presentations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Copilot and other AI-enabled productivity tools, with the ability to leverage such tools to enhance efficiency, research, drafting, and workflow management.
  • Experience with social media platforms, including LinkedIn and Instagram, as professional visibility and relationship management tools.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize information to support strategic decision-making.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and professional services databases (e.g., InterAction or equivalent) preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and coordinate with firm resources.

Compensation

Allen Matkins is an Equal Opportunity Employer and offers a competitive compensation & benefits package. The anticipated base salary range for this full-time role is $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year. Actual salary will depend upon a number of factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, job-related skills, qualifications, and location. 

The base salary range displayed on the job posting reflects the estimated range for new hire salaries for the position. The actual offered base salary will be determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, job-related skills and qualifications. The pay range is subject to change at any time dependent on a variety of internal and external business factors.
