Power the Future Coordinator

Job Purpose

Responsible for providing professional‑level coordination, analytical support, and communication development for MPW's Power the Future initiatives. This role organizes information, prepares materials, coordinates cross‑functional activities, and promotes alignment across generation operations, and major capital projects. This role contributes to MPW's long‑term strategy by supporting the transition toward a balanced, more sustainable energy portfolio while maintaining reliable operation of existing coal‑fired generating facilities.

Specific Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities across Generation, Environmental, and Power the Future project portfolios. Provide support during staff meetings and help optimize schedules and workflows.
• Track key milestones, deliverables, and interdependencies across construction projects, environmental compliance requirements, and operational schedules.
• Support strategic planning activities by maintaining organized systems for project documentation, records, and information management.
• Provide support for executive presentations, public engagements, and external partnership visits, including preparation of materials, logistics coordination, event planning support, and follow‑up documentation for MPW Power the Future decision-making.
• Prepare formal presentations, reports, and visual materials that organize and communicate complex technical, operational, and regulatory information clearly and accurately.
• Prepare executive-level communication materials related to Power the Future, sustainability initiatives, and generation operations, ensuring consistency with MPW's Strategic Plan.
• Maintain consistent communication flow across departments involved in Power the Future activities, helping translate project updates into clear written and visual formats.
• Coordinate documentation, data, and communication related to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), Iowa Utilities Commission (IUC), Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), City of Muscatine, and State of Iowa, as appropriate.
• Coordinate documentation, data, and communication related to compliance activities and regulatory reporting.
• Provide coordination support for MPW Power the Future initiatives.
• Assist with scheduling, logistics, and site-based coordination activities for Power the Future initiatives, including event-related planning, site visits, and milestone-based activities.

Other Responsibilities

• Handle sensitive operational, personnel, and regulatory information with discretion and in accordance with MPW policies.
• Learn and leverage new tools, systems, and technologies that enhance coordination and communication across Power the Future . Collaborate with the Power Supply Analyst to advance efficiencies.
• Utilize available administrative resources at the Generation site to support project and workflow needs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge

• Bachelor's degree in business, communications, marketing, environmental studies, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Minimum 5 years of administrative experience, utility experience preferred.
• Minimum 3 years experience in coordination, analysis, communications, and/or project support within a technical, operational, or regulatory environment preferred.
• Familiarity with environmental permitting, regulatory processes, or compliance documentation beneficial.
• Strong understanding of organizational workflows, project coordination, and cross‑functional communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced PowerPoint, Word, and Excel skills.
• Ability to organize data and complex information, identify patterns, and support problem‑solving efforts.
• Ability to interact professionally with diverse groups of stakeholders.
• Knowledge of utility operations, MISO, or environmental compliance is preferred but not required.

Other Position Requirements

• Must possess a valid driver's license and provide own vehicle for use during work hours.
• Must be able to attend work on a regular basis and work extended hours as needed.
• Must be able to travel for work.
• Must maintain a method of communication to be contacted outside normal work hours.

Work Environment

• Work environment is primarily an office environment at a coal-fired power plant. Occasional visits to other office environments, areas within or around an industrial coal-fired power plant, or outside job sites may be required.
• Must comply with all safety and site rules at all locations.
