The Shawville Generating Station in Shawville, PA, is a major power facility with a 626 MW capacity. It operates two Babcock & Wilcox subcritical boilers and two GE-F2 steam turbines for Units 1–2, along with two Combustion Engineering subcritical boilers and two GE-F2 steam turbines for Units 3–4. The facility plays an important role in supporting safe, reliable, and efficient power generation for the region.
Opportunity Summary
The Power Plant Technician (PPT) - Advanced Operator plays a crucial role in the operation, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of generating plant steam and auxiliary equipment. This position involves monitoring systems, performing diagnostics, and collaborating with the Control Room Operator to address equipment start and stop times, abnormal conditions, and corrective actions. With responsibilities ranging from system maintenance and emergency response to administrative support, this role is essential to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
Your scope of responsibility as PPT - Advanced Operator includes the following primary functions:
NAES Safe

Working Relationships
The PPT Advanced Operator reports to the Operations and Maintenance Supervisor and responds to directions from plant management. Additionally, the PPT with all plant personnel to ensure efficient operation and maintenance of the facility.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.
Power plant environment that may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions.
Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility.
Fitness for Duty
All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
The PPT - Advanced Operator follows a modified DuPont rotating 12-hour shift schedule, ensuring 24/7 coverage through a structured rotation of day and night shifts that includes built-in rest days. This position will require extended hours, flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed to support plant operations and business needs and may also require callout availability. Depending on the position, on-call status may or may not apply.
Compensation
This position offers an initial starting base-pay rate of $42.37 per hour, with progressive increases up to $51.59 per hour as required training and qualifications are completed under the CBA. The position is also eligible for an annual inventive bonus.
