OUR MISSION
The Sanitation Districts protect public health and the environment through innovative and cost-effective wastewater and solid waste management, and in doing so convert waste into resources such as recycled water, energy and recycled materials.
The Sanitation Districts are currently recruiting to fill one (1) Engineering Associate II, III, Mechanical/Electrical Engineer within Wastewater Management Department within the (Warren Facility).
The Sanitation Districts are a non-civil service public agency with over 1,700 employees, including over 200 engineers. We are nationally recognized for innovative engineering practices and leadership in designing, constructing, and operating state-of-the-art systems for solid waste and wastewater management.

WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT
WARREN FACILITY, CARSON
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To perform professional engineering work and coordinate progressively more complex projects in the A.K. Warren Water Resource Facility Section.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of a Supervising Engineer, the incumbent will plan, conduct, and support engineering projects related to the operation and maintenance of the Total Energy Facility at the Warren Facility; develop and recommend engineering solutions for the facility; interact with other Sanitation Districts' departments, regulatory agencies, and the public; and perform duties to ensure compliance with permits and regulatory requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must possess:
A valid California Class C drivers license
AND-
ENGINEERING ASSOCIATE II LEVEL:
Option A: A bachelors degree in a pertinent engineering discipline -AND- a masters degree in a pertinent engineering discipline;
Option B: A bachelors degree in a related science -AND- an Engineer-In-Training Certificate -AND- a masters degree in a pertinent engineering discipline;
Option C: A bachelors degree in engineering -AND- two years of professional engineering experience obtained after earning a bachelors degree in engineering.
ENGINEERING ASSOCIATE III LEVEL:
Option A:Two (2) years of experience as an Engineering Associate II
Option B: Four (4) years of professional engineering experience subsequent to earning a bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited and recognized college or university.
ENGINEER LEVEL: Possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer with the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists AND:
Option A: A masters degree in engineering -AND- three years of professional engineering experience;
Option B: A PhD in engineering -AND- two years of professional engineering experience;
Option C: Six years of professional engineering experience subsequent to earning a bachelors degree in engineering.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience with oversight of combined cycle power plant operations, including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of gas pretreatment systems, gas turbine operation, steam systems/turbine operation; a Bachelor and/or Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering; possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with the California Board of Professional Engineers.

RETIREMENT
COMPENSATION
Employees receive annual salary increases until reaching step 5 of the salary range and are provided with opportunities to promote. Cost of living adjustments are implemented annually in accordance with labor agreements.

13 paid holidays and one-half paid holiday depending on the employees work schedule.
TUITION REIMBURSEMENT
Employees may be eligible for tuition reimbursement for approved accredited course work.
STUDENT LOAN PAYMENT REIMBURSEMENT
For some bargaining units, the Districts will provide student loan payment reimbursements for principal or interest paid by the employee on a qualified education loan incurred by the employee for the education of the employee. The annual maximum reimbursement is $5,250 and the lifetime reimbursement limit is $21,000.
