Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy is seeking a highly skilled and innovative individual to join their Power Generation Division (PGD) team as an Asset Management Technical Services Specialist. NextEra Energy, Inc., is one of the largest and highest-performing power generation companies in the nation, and their PGD team is responsible for a diverse generation portfolio of over 80 GW.
The selected candidate will develop Maximo expertise while applying foundational knowledge of asset management, process design, and Agile delivery. The role supports system enhancements, integrations, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Skills
Develop working knowledge of Maximo configuration and core applications, including Assets, Work Orders, Service Requests, Preventive Maintenance, Planning, Inventory, and Contracts.
Support the lifecycle of NextEra Energys enterprise asset management system enhancements, assisting with implementation, monitoring, maintenance, development, testing, and upgrades under senior guidance.
Participate in program increment and sprint planning; support backlog refinement; and help prioritize features based on business value, customer impact, and stakeholder input.
Assist in identifying potential risks associated with asset management operations and support the development of technical debt mitigation strategies to ensure long-term maintainability and system effectiveness.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to document current and future processes, identify improvement opportunities, and align Maximo functionality with operational needs.
Foster collaboration among cross-functional teams and external partners to enhance asset management performance. Identify opportunities to use standard out of the box Maximo capabilities before proposing custom solutions.
Support requirements documentation, testing, and business communication for system enhancements and integrations.
Assist in understanding and meeting the expectations of internal and external stakeholders, supporting efforts to gather and apply input to enhance products and services while building and maintaining professional relationships.
Follow established change-management procedures and support the preparation of functional and technical implementation documentation.
Support the transition of new site and plant equipment from NextEra Energys Engineering & Construction team to the Power Generation Division, working with the Renewable Operations Integration team to ensure asset integration into PGD systems.
Write and modify basic-to-intermediate SQL queries, with guidance as needed, to validate data, investigate issues, and support data migration.
The Ideal Candidate Would Have The Following:
Bachelor's degree in information systems, engineering, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Two or more years of relevant professional experience with business systems, asset management, data analysis, or related technical work
Hands-on experience or coursework using SQL to query relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL
Analytical and problem-solving skills to support solutions to interpersonal, technical, and administrative challenges
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across organizational levels
Working knowledge of PC software applications including Microsoft 365 suite and other related software applications
Experience working in an Agile team or familiarity with Agile ceremonies and tools.
Exposure to continuous improvement methods or quality tools; Lean or Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification is a plus
Familiarity with Maximo applications, configuration concepts, or data structures gained through professional experience, internships, training, or coursework
Exposure to Agile delivery and product ownership practices, including backlog refinement, user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritization
Experience translating business requirements into process documentation, user stories, acceptance criteria, or functional specifications
Experience supporting user acceptance testing, validating system changes, documenting results, and coordinating issue resolution
Basic proficiency with programming languages such as Python and experience using IDEs for software development
Experience documenting decisions, coordinating action items, and supporting delivery across business and technical teams
