Power Coater - Productions worker

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled individual to join our team in a manufacturing/industrial environment. The successful candidate will possess expertise in powder coating and demonstrate the ability to apply coating principles effectively. This role requires a strong team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to interpret technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, mask, clean, coat, and finish metal and other surfaces.
• Operate wet paint Graco system to spray industrial paint finishes on various surfaces.
• Inspect painted units for quality, ensuring uniform mil thickness, hardness, gloss level, and color conformity.
• Inspect and replace components on paint guns for optimal performance.
• Perform daily checks and maintenance.
• Assist in daily 5S and cleaning procedures.
• Clean paint from booth ceilings, walls, conveyor hooks, grids, spray heads, and hoses.
• Replace air filters inside the paint booth weekly.
• Respray the inside of the paint booth with peel-away coating monthly.
• Touch up defective areas of coated items.
• Assist other operators and contribute to solving quality and production issues.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED.
• 1 year of powder coat experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Knowledge and skill in applying coating principles and practices, and resolving issues such as fisheye, poor adhesion, or rough coatings.
• Ability to set, use, and read measuring instruments such as viscosity testers and thickness gauges.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
• Knowledge of specifications and standards to determine color, coating thickness, and mixing instructions.
• Ability to use tools and equipment needed for coating operations.
• Good listening and communication skills.
• Ability to work well with others as a team player.

Physical Demands

The role requires frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, and the use of hands to operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The employee will work in an indoor manufacturing environment, exposed to production machinery, assembly operations, overhead cranes, and forklift traffic. Personal protective equipment is required to prevent exposure to workplace hazards.

Mental Demands

The role requires regular use of written and oral communication skills, the ability to read and interpret data, solve problems, apply mathematical reasoning, and interact with other employees, customers, and vendors. Training will be provided for any duties outside your function or trade as necessary.

Shift Details

First Shift: 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
