Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Power BI Developer with strong expertise in SQL, data validation, dashboard development, and Power BI Service administration. The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining business dashboards, validating student loan data from multiple sources, migrating existing Tableau and Crystal Reports to Power BI, and establishing a reliable Power BI reporting environment.

The ideal candidate should have experience working with complex datasets, preferably student loan data, along with strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain stable and reliable Power BI Service environments.

• Write, optimize, and extract SQL queries to retrieve and validate data from multiple sources.

• Develop interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and complex custom visualizations based on business specifications.

• Validate student loan data from various sources, identify discrepancies, and perform root cause analysis of data anomalies.

• Migrate existing Tableau and Crystal Reports to Power BI.

• Configure and maintain Power BI within the Microsoft Power Platform environment.

• Develop and maintain business dashboards and provide ad hoc reporting capabilities.

• Establish data refresh strategies using Azure SQL Server and other applicable data sources.

• Develop automation routines to export data into different formats, including Excel.

• Implement reporting security, accessibility, and user access management best practices.

• Remediate accessibility issues and ensure reports meet applicable agency and performance requirements.

• Gather business requirements, document business rules, and communicate with business stakeholders.

• Prepare technical documentation, technical manuals, and project status reports.

• Conduct Power BI training, knowledge transfer, and technical guidance for business users.

• Collaborate with developers and business teams to improve reporting functionality and establish best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of advanced Power BI development experience.

• Strong SQL query writing, extraction, and data validation experience.

• Hands-on experience developing complex Power BI dashboards and visualizations.

• Experience with Power BI Service configuration and administration.

• Experience with Azure SQL Server and multiple data sources.

• Strong understanding of data modeling, data refresh strategies, and report performance optimization.

• Experience with Power Platform configuration and integration.

• Knowledge of reporting security, accessibility, and access management.

• Strong technical documentation and business requirements gathering skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to conduct technical presentations and user-level training.

Preferred Experience

• Experience validating student loan data, including forbearance data.

• Experience in financial aid, higher education, or student loan reporting.

• Experience migrating Tableau and Crystal Reports to Power BI.

• Experience performing root cause analysis of data discrepancies and anomalies.
