Power and Controls Compliance Inspector (E&I)
Contract: 12 Months | Location: Viking, MN
Join a mission built on safety and precision
At WECTEC Staffing Services, we support projects where safety and quality are non‑negotiable. In this role, you’ll partner with a Chief Inspector or a Resident Engineer—reporting structure depends on the project—to safeguard that every electrical, communications, and instrumentation element is installed to the letter of the design and the spirit of the code.
Your impact
- Guard installation integrity for Electrical, Communication, and Instrumentation systems on construction projects in natural gas pipeline and industrial environments.
- Hold the work to drawings, plans, specifications, and Contract Documents—no compromises.
- Apply hands-on knowledge of data acquisition solutions and pneumatic/electrical control systems to verify correct configuration and operation.
- Use the current National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70) within the framework of CFR Title 49 Part 192 to drive compliant outcomes.
- Stay aligned with approved-for-construction drawings and company specifications at all times.
- Own the record: maintain a detailed inspector’s log and deliver comprehensive inspection reports.
- Lead by example on safety; immediately elevate concerns to the Chief Inspector and Safety Inspector.
- Validate that all materials meet Company requirements before installation.
- Channel all design changes and material substitutions through the Chief Inspector/Resident Engineer and secure Company approval prior to proceeding.
- Surface emerging issues early to project leadership to keep schedules on track.
What sets you up for success
- 5+ years as an Electrical Inspector/Technician or journeyman, including 2+ years in pipeline or plant settings with emphasis on electrical power and control system construction methods.
- Fluency with National Electrical Code (N.E.C.) guidelines.
- Meets the baseline requirements of a Utility Inspector (basic inspector).
