We are hiring for a PostgreSQL Database Administrator opportunity.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator with a minimum of 10 years of experience managing large scale PostgreSQL environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in AWS RDS PostgreSQL, database architecture, performance tuning, PL/pgSQL development, backup and recovery, security, automation, and production support. This role requires hands on experience managing enterprise databases with complex schemas while ensuring high availability, scalability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect, design, implement, and administer PostgreSQL databases on AWS RDS.
• Configure PostgreSQL parameter groups, option groups, security groups, users, and roles.
• Manage multi AZ deployments for high availability and disaster recovery.
• Configure automated backups, snapshots, monitoring, and point in time recovery.
• Monitor and maintain PostgreSQL databases with thousands of tables across multiple schemas.
• Perform database performance tuning, optimization, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
• Design database schemas, access patterns, indexing, and locking strategies.
• Implement database security, encryption, and access control policies.
• Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and operational runbooks.
• Create Shell, Bash, and Python scripts to automate database administration tasks.
• Monitor production databases, support incident management, and provide after hours on call support.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and application teams to optimize database performance and support business requirements.

Required Skills:

• 10+ years of PostgreSQL Database Administration experience
• Extensive AWS RDS PostgreSQL administration experience
• Strong PostgreSQL architecture, configuration, and administration knowledge
• 8+ years of PL/pgSQL development experience
• SQL and PL/pgSQL programming
• Database performance tuning and optimization
• Database backup and recovery strategies
• Database security best practices
• Database schema design and locking strategies
• Production monitoring and incident management
• Capacity planning and performance analysis
• Shell, Bash, and Python scripting
• DevOps tools including Bitbucket, Bamboo, GitHub, and Jenkins
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills

Preferred Skills:

• MySQL
• Oracle Database
• Health and Human Services application experience
• Continuous learning mindset and knowledge of emerging database technologies
