    Job Description

Principal Investigator, Predrag Jevtic, PhD is looking for a Postdoctoral Scientist to join the team!

The goal of the Jevtic laboratory is to elucidate the mechanisms by which the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) regulates gene expression and influences cell fate decisions, and to determine how perturbations in these pathways contribute to human disease. Central to this pathway is the E3 ubiquitin ligase SCF-FBXL14, which interacts with the Groucho/TLE family of transcriptional co-repressors. TLEs are essential regulators of development that are frequently altered in cancer. Through its association with TLE proteins, SCF-FBXL14 controls diverse families of dozens lineage-specific repressive transcription factors that govern the development of most tissues and organ systems and their altered function causes congenital disorders and cancer. We will investigate how repressive protein complexes are managed on chromatin by the UPS to enable dynamic changes in gene expression and proper cellular identity.

In our lab combine human stem cell and cancer models with genomic, proteomic, biochemical, and structural approaches. By bringing this mechanistic work together with the outstanding medical expertise, clinical resources, and research environment at Cedars-Sinai, we aim to uncover how defective ubiquitin-dependent control of gene expression causes disease and to translate these insights into new therapeutic strategies.
