What We Want

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team and contribute to cutting-edge genomics research. In this role, you will apply your expertise in molecular biology and computational genomics to support advanced research initiatives, with a primary focus on quality control and initial data handling for next-generation sequencing datasets. The successful candidate will independently interpret QC metrics, troubleshoot sequencing issues, and support the growing volume and complexity of genomics projects. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with both wet-lab and computational scientists, coordinate client-focused research projects, contribute to scientific publications and presentations, and provide the scientific expertise needed to support advanced bioinformatics analyses. We are looking for candidates with a PhD, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and presentation experience. Familiarity with high-throughput data generation, next-generation sequencing technologies, and sequencing quality control metrics is essential. This is an exciting opportunity for a researcher who enjoys working at the intersection of science, technology, and collaborative discovery.

What You Need To Know

Salary: $60,000/annually.

Essential Duties/Tasks

Research

  • Under general supervision, is responsible for conducting research into their field of expertise.

  • Utilizes knowledge and skills granted to them by their education and expertise to complete research projects in their field of expertise.

  • Assists with the preparation and cleaning of worksite.

  • Analyzes research data and summarizes results.

  • Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications.

Mentoring

  • May assist, mentor, and/or supervise student researchers and/or graduate students who are working on research related to the project.

Presentations

  • Prepares presentation materials on research topic that may be presented to small and/or large groups.

  • Actively participates in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate PhD in a related field.

  • No required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

  • Presentation skills.

  • Analytical skills.

  • Attention to detail.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong background in molecular biology and computational genomics.

  • Understanding of quality control (QC) metrics for next-generation sequencing datasets.

  • Familiarity with high-throughput data generation.

  • Ability to independently interpret QC metrics.

  • Troubleshooting sequencing issues.

  • Client project coordination and communication.

  • Interaction with both wet-lab and computational staff.

  • Primary responsibility for quality control and initial data handling for next-generation sequencing datasets.

  • Support for client project coordination and communication.

  • Scientific expertise necessary to support advanced bioinformatics.

  • Ability to handle the increasing volume and complexity of genomics projects.
