The Tulane Global Humanities Center (TGHC) at Tulane University invites applications for an Editorial Humanities postdoctoral fellow.
This position is designed for postdoctoral candidates who are interested in pursuing careers in academic publishing, editorial work, and/or public humanities, or exploring career options while developing professional skills. The primary expectation is to provide operational support for the work of Public Culture, an eminent scholarly journal in the humanities and humanistic social sciences, whose editorial sponsorship (i.e., editorial home) has recently moved to Tulane's TGHC. This will involve the reading and evaluation of unsolicited manuscripts and, working with the journal's Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor, and Senior Editorial Board, the shepherding of articles and other materials through the editorial and publication process.
The Tulane Global Humanities Center is a new interdisciplinary center, housed in Tulane's School of Liberal Arts, supporting humanities scholarship and education. TGHC works to support humanities initiatives, creating a community for all humanities scholars at Tulane. The Center's programming revolves around a biennial theme, the first of which is Global Port Cities.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience in publishing or editorial work, with commitments to the public humanities, and who can engage with the mission of TGHC and PC.

Qualifications:
Candidates must have received their PhD in a humanities or humanistic social science discipline. PhD degrees should be conferred no earlier than 2022 and no later than September 1, 2026.
Experience in academic or commercial publishing and/or collaborating with museums, humanities centers, or non-academic community partners is especially welcome.
The secondary expectation is the opportunity to work on an independent project, either a publication (such as the revision of a dissertation, book proposal, and/or scholarly article) or a public humanities project (such as an exhibit, symposium, or publication) that is linked either to TGHC or PC.
The Fellow will be required to be in residence during the one-year term and to be an active participant in Public Culture's editorial work and TGHC's programming. There is the possibility of renewal beyond the initial one-year term based on positive reviews and success in the role.
