About the College/Unit/Department
As the 4th largest public college of education in the country and the 3rd largest college at UGA, the Mary Frances Early College of Education (MFE COE) improves the lives of residents of Georgia and beyond through our instruction, research, and service. The MFE COE is a comprehensive college with disciplines focused on teacher preparation, counseling and human development, communication sciences, human movement sciences, career development, student affairs, and educational administration and policy. We place significant emphasis on graduate education with approximately 40% of our students at the graduate level, making us the second largest college at UGA with respect to graduate education.
We offer M.Ed. and Ed.S. degrees focused on K-12 education, an M.Ed. focused on instructional design and development, an M.Ed. focused on research, Ph.D. focused on using design, research, and scholarship to solve real-world educational problems in multiple contexts, and an online Ed.D. focused on integrating design-based research, making data-informed decisions, and using scholarship and research to improve instructional outcomes in the field.

The Postdoctoral Associate will support a portfolio of externally funded research projects within the PIXL Lab, with a primary focus on data analysis, study design support, and dissemination of findings. The position emphasizes advanced methodological contributions across mixed methods research, including quantitative, qualitative, and computational approaches, applied to the design and evaluation of technology-based interventions (for example, AI and extended reality) for learning and health contexts.
The Postdoctoral Associate will contribute to the design and execution of research studies, oversee project workstreams, and supervise graduate student researchers. The role includes leading data analysis efforts, contributing to scholarly publications, and supporting the development of external grant proposals (for example, NSF, NIH, DoD). While the position supports ongoing projects rather than serving as a primary lead, it entails a high degree of independence in managing research activities and coordinating across multiple projects.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position
An earned Doctorate in Learning, Design, and Technology, Educational Technology, Human Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, or a closely related field is needed for this position. Experiences in NIH or NSF-funded research projects, conference presentations, and publications are needed.
