    Primary Description of Work

    The position of Post-Production Technical Officer will have knowledge of the various moving image and sound practices that comprise the media landscape and distribution models.

    This position shares responsibility for supervising the timely and accurate completion of all student film productions per the school's (and the industry's) technical specifications. The post-production facility's technology must be maintained and updated to ensure that this process takes place efficiently. The post-production staff, along with the dean, associate dean, and the faculty, make the decisions regarding the use of such technology in the facility.

    Description of Responsibilities and Duties

    In depth working knowledge and problem-solving skills with:

    • Adobe After Effects
    • Adobe Premiere
    • Adobe Illustrator
    • Avid Media Composer
    • Avid Pro Tools
    • Avid Nexis
    • DaVinci Resolve

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Maintain the post-production facility/equipment
    • Daily contact with students regarding technical problems with projects and scheduling
    • Regular meetings with Program Directors and post-production Staff
    • Support and coordination with curricular concentrations involved with the post-production process
    • Ensure that the work of the film students is performed in a safe manner
    • Contact and schedule the external use of the post-production facilities
    • Provide support for the students and faculty in Picture Editing and Sound Design
    • Help post-production staff with problem-solving and installation of new equipment and software
    • Prepare materials and coordinate delivery of student films for internal and external screenings

    Minimum Qualifications

    The qualified candidate will have extensive post-production credits/work experience in the motion picture industry. Additional qualifications should include a Bachelor of Arts degree or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience; Must have strong problem-solving skills to accurately diagnose and fix technical problems with Adobe Creative Suite, AVID Media Composer, Nexis and Pro Tools systems, and DaVinci Resolve. Must have a strong understanding of post-production workflow. Must be proficient in both Apple and PC operating systems.

    Preferred Qualifications

    The qualified candidate will possess extensive post-production work experience in the motion picture industry.

    The candidate must have:

    • A strong understanding of post-production workflow.
    • Strong problem-solving skills to accurately diagnose and fix technical problems with Adobe Creative Suite, AVID, and Pro Tools systems, color correction processes, VFX and HD workflow.
    • Strong understanding of post-production workflow and industry standard VFX workflows.
    • Strong understanding of VFX, color correction and animation software.
    • Proficient with both Mac and PC operating systems.
    • Pleasant and professional disposition appropriate for interaction with students and co-workers.

    A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
