The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at UAB is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join Dr. Brent Carter's laboratory. The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge, fundamental biomedical research focused on lung health, lung injury, and chronic respiratory conditions. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth, publication, and academic advancement in a highly collaborative environment.

• Research & Experimentation: Design, plan, and execute laboratory experiments investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and Asbestosis.
• Data Analysis: Analyze complex experimental data and utilize statistical tools to interpret research findings.
• Scientific Communication: Draft, review, and prepare high-quality scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Present research outcomes at departmental seminars and national conferences.
• Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, clinicians, and technicians within the pulmonary and critical care division.
• Lab Citizenship: Assist in mentoring graduate or undergraduate students, maintaining laboratory protocols, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, Physiology, or a closely related field.
• Experience: Strong background in cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and in vivo/ex vivo models of lung disease.
• Skills: Excellent analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
