(Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.) Three to five years direct commodity/gas/electric trading experience. Leadership abilities, effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as part of a team. Must be computer literate (experience with gas and risk management systems preferred). The ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment. Effective oral and written communication and negotiation skills. Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Some travel may be involved. Trade physical and financial natural gas by phone and electronic trading platforms and research, analyze and interpret natural gas market information, pipeline tariffs and gas supply contracts, in order to strategic develop trading activities and to determine the operational impacts of strategic utilization on MidAmerican Energy Company. (60%) Develop long-term natural gas supply contracting strategy that is aligned with MidAmerican Energy Company's transportation and storage assets. Negotiate contracts and report progress as required. (20%) Compile and prepare information for regulatory filings and reporting, including annual PGA reconciliation information and Incentive Gas Supply Procurement Plan filings. In addition, compile and prepare business practices for internal use. (5%) Assist with special projects, and provide technical input to assist in development of project planning, including developing appropriate financial models as necessary. (5%) Assist in the development of portfolio analyst I and trading coordinator through direct interaction on the job and periodic department training opportunities. (5%) Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (5%) Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques.
