ROLE OVERVIEW
This is a seasonal position that you can use your winters off to travel, hunt, fish, or for other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year-round. This position is responsible for opening new or existing sites and preparing for aggregate extraction and stockpiling, then restoring the site after the extraction operation is completed. The typical schedule is eleven days on from 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM, followed by three days off.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform daily equipment walk-around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained. • Safely and properly operate bulldozer. • Construct drain field and ditches as needed. • Prepare site for aggregate mining and stockpile millings and other aggregate products for the plants. • Recover submerged aggregate. • Cover fabric on job sites. • Maintain strong customer relations with managers, supervisors, pit owners, coworkers, and other customers. • Communicate effectively, verbally, listening, and written. • Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills, ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous and respectful of others. • Troubleshoot and problem solve situations, problems, material quality, equipment operation, repair, etc. • Monitor and discuss production problems with coworkers and managers/supervisors. • Ensure MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR safety and environmental regulation compliance. • Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum educational experience or other relevant job requirements. • General education, grammar, and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent. • 5 years of equipment maintenance and operation. • Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card, and acceptable driving record.
