    Description

    Position: Pool Supervisor or Lifeguard

    Reports To: Director of Sports Facilities

    Employment Status: Part Time - Days and Hours as Needed

    Description: Part time position with flexible hours. Position maintains safety and security of the pool and its patrons at all times

    NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance

    Essential Functions:

    • Maintain safety and security of the pool and its patrons at all times
    • Rules are explained and enforced in a courteous, professional, and firm manner
    • Maintain effective, positive relationships with members, participants and other staff
    • Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately. Completes corresponding paperwork as needed
    • Remains alert while sitting, standing, or walking
    • Be prepared to enter the water at any time while on duty
    • Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes swimmer safety and engagement in accordance with policies and procedures
    • Assists with pool configuration changes and event transitions
    • Ability to work with a diverse population including children
    • Comfort in and around the water
    • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned

    Other Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Serve as a role model for students
    • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor
    • Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner

    Qualifications:

    • Must be 15 years of age or older
    • Must have current lifeguarding certification such as American Red Cross, YMCa, Ellis & Associates or any other course recognized by the Ohio Administrative Code
    • Must successfully pass both BCII and FBI background checks (if 18 years of age or older)

    Additional Working Conditions:

    • Occasional interaction among unruly children
    • Occasional exposure to blood bodily fluids and tissue
    • Frequent requirements to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, climb, and stoop
    • Weekend/evening/summer work
    • Requirement to lift and/or carry up to a maximum of 50 pounds, and push/pull up to a maximum of 100 pounds, various supplies and/or equipment
