The Position
This is the entry-level class in the Police Service Technician series. Positions in this class typically have little or no directly related work experience. The Police Service Technician I class is distinguished from the II level by the performance of less than the full range of duties assigned to the II level. Incumbents work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks, progressing to general supervision as procedures and processes of assigned area of responsibility are learned.
Supervision Received and Exercised: Receives immediate supervision from assigned management and/or supervisory personnel. May receive technical and functional supervision from the Police Services Supervisor. Exercises no supervision.

Qualifications
Experience and Education Guidelines: Any combination equivalent to experience and education that would most likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: One year of experience involving extensive contact with the public. Experience in a law enforcement environment is desirable.
Education: High school diploma or certified equivalent (GED); supplemental course work in law enforcement administration or related field is desirable.

Police Service Technicians may be scheduled to work shifts or a limited schedule as necessary to accomplish job requirements to support 24-hour operations seven days a week, including weekends and holidays. Are you willing and able to meet this requirement?

Police Service Technicians musts be able and willing to process, search, and transport incoming prisoners to county jail. Are you able and willing to meet this requirement?

What best describes your law enforcement experience involving animal control, vehicle abatement, investigations, crime prevention, jail operations, or any other supporting role in a law enforcement agency?
