HIRING RANGE: $32.36 - $35.96/hour
The work schedule for this position will be primarily in-person with limited remote work opportunity after successful completion of the probationary period. Remote work opportunities are subject to change based on business needs.
The Investigative Technicians serves in a non-sworn capacity as administrative and technical support to an assigned division within the Police Department and aids with investigations, preparation of case filings, and evidentiary exhibits. The Investigative Technicians are responsible for maintaining working knowledge of police informational databases, audio and visual recording systems, computer software, crime scene evidence collection, evidence preservation, and courtroom display for the purpose of enhancing investigations while alleviating detective workload.

Lifting and Carrying
The ability to lift/move objects such as files and boxes weighing up to 30 pounds from one location to another.
Body positions
Work is performed in an office environment, with some moving about within the Police Department and other outlying locations. Extended periods of sitting, as well as reaching, stretching, bending, and stooping. Position requires the ability to input large amounts of data using repetitive motion on a consistent daily basis.
Hearing
Hearing sufficient to converse over the telephone and in person, to hear audible signals from computer and office equipment and surrounding environment.
Vision
Employee uses vision to enter data into computer, read handwriting and various reports and documents.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Mathematics
Employee uses basic adding, subtraction, multiplication and division to figure data for cases and maintain statistics relative to pawn shops.
Remembering
Must have the ability to remember and use policies, procedures and regulations pertinent to the position and to remember and follow instructions given by supervisor.
Language Ability
Must be able to read, interpret and comprehend various documents and be able to speak the English language in order to communicate with citizens, co-workers, pawn shop business personnel and others.
Reasoning
Must have the ability to apply common sense, understanding and good judgment in making decisions relevant to the position and manage multiple tasks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work involves extensive telephone contact, as well as in-person contact with pawn shop business
owners/workers, citizens, and co-workers.
Work involves large caseloads, frequent contact with irate or upset crime victims or witnesses the level of responsibility, and the consequence for error.
Work is performed largely in an office environment with regular visits to pawn shops in the metro area.
