Project Manager II – Nuclear

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager II – Nuclear to lead multiple projects within a nuclear power generation environment. This position will initially focus on large component replacement projects supporting an Extended Power Uprate Program, with significant responsibility for contractor oversight, equipment manufacturer progress, implementation vendors, logistics, outage readiness, and overall project execution.

This is a strong opportunity for a Project Manager who understands how to manage complex, highly regulated projects where safety, schedule, cost, contractor performance, and outage execution all have to come together.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple projects and maintain accountability for scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and overall execution.
• Support major component replacement projects associated with an Extended Power Uprate Program.
• Provide oversight and accountability for multiple contracts, equipment manufacturers, implementation vendors, and project logistics.
• Develop, submit, and maintain project budgets for approved scopes of work.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, resource plans, risks, and contingency plans.
• Implement and maintain effective project controls and reporting mechanisms.
• Track and quantify project risks, discovery items, milestones, schedule exceptions, and critical activities.
• Lead project team meetings and ensure stakeholders have a clear understanding of scope, schedule, priorities, risks, and issues.
• Provide oversight, direction, and support to project team members and supplemental personnel.
• Serve as the primary project contact for support organizations, responsible managers, project sponsors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Represent assigned projects during pre-outage, outage, readiness, and plant-sponsored meetings.
• Lead project readiness reviews prior to outage execution, including review of schedules, resources, risks, and contingency plans.
• Monitor project activities to ensure compliance with applicable site and corporate procedures.
• Maintain significant-event logs and ensure post-outage critiques and lessons learned are completed and documented.
• Serve as the primary contact for project contractual matters.
• Initiate contract requisitions and resource requests for supplemental personnel as needed.
• Serve as a badge sponsor and job sponsor for applicable technical, vendor, and specialty resources.
• Communicate management direction and safety expectations to contract personnel.
• Complete required contractor EHS risk evaluations.
• Review and approve applicable contractor invoices and timesheets.
• Complete post-work contractor performance feedback.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
• Strong knowledge and application of project management principles and practices.
• Experience managing project scope, schedule, budget, risk, resources, contractors, and stakeholder communication.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals across multiple levels of an organization, from individual contributors through senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous utility industry experience.
• Nuclear power generation, outage, or major component replacement experience is highly desirable.
• Working knowledge to proficiency in project scheduling and cost controls.
• Knowledge of construction management.
• Experience overseeing contractors, equipment manufacturers, implementation vendors, and project logistics.
• PMP or CAPM certification.
• Utility-related technical certifications or training.
• CMII and/or construction-related certifications.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Master’s degree in Business, Project Management, or a related discipline.

Ideal Background

The strongest candidates will bring a combination of project management, utility or nuclear experience, construction/implementation oversight, project controls, contractor management, and outage execution. Experience managing large equipment or component replacement projects in an operating power generation environment would be particularly valuable.

This role requires someone who can take ownership of complex projects, coordinate multiple internal and external stakeholders, maintain tight control over cost and schedule, and ensure the project is fully prepared for successful outage execution.
