Platform Engineer / SRE-DevOps Engineer (Redshift)

Role: Platform Engineer / SRE-DevOps Engineer (Redshift)

Location: Remote

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain Amazon Redshift clusters and supporting AWS infrastructure.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar tools.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for database changes, data pipelines, and infrastructure deployments.
• Monitor Redshift performance, availability, storage utilization, and query workloads.
• Optimize queries, workload management, table design, distribution keys, sort keys, and compression.
• Manage Redshift scaling, backups, snapshots, disaster recovery, and high-availability processes.
• Configure and maintain security controls, including IAM roles, encryption, network access, and secrets management.
• Support data integrations involving AWS Glue, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, and other AWS services.
• Troubleshoot database, deployment, infrastructure, and data pipeline issues.
• Develop monitoring and alerting solutions using Amazon CloudWatch and related tools.
• Partner with data engineers, database administrators, developers, and security teams to improve platform reliability.
• Create technical documentation, operational procedures, and incident-response playbooks.
• Participate in production support, incident resolution, and root-cause analysis.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience administering and supporting Amazon Redshift.
• Experience working with AWS services such as S3, IAM, CloudWatch, Glue, Lambda, and Secrets Manager.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, data warehousing concepts, and database performance tuning.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, AWS CodePipeline, or similar tools.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Proficiency with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or another scripting language.
• Understanding of Redshift architecture, workload management, concurrency scaling, and data distribution.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, logging, and production incident management.
• Familiarity with Git-based version control and Agile development practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS certification, such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Database Specialty, or Solutions Architect.
• Experience with Amazon Redshift Serverless and Redshift Spectrum.
• Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of data transformation tools such as dbt.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise data platforms.
• Familiarity with data governance, compliance, and cloud security best practices.
• Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, or Prometheus.
