Description

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Platform Engineer in New York, NY. Responsibilities:
  • Platform Engineer will design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs supporting enterprise platform capabilities and sandbox environments
  • Build cloud-native applications primarily in Python, with occasional development in Java
  • Develop and deploy containerized workloads on Amazon EKS (Kubernetes)
  • Create and maintain connectivity patterns and integration services for approved enterprise data sources
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms, integrating with enterprise identity platforms and access controls
  • Build observability capabilities including logging, monitoring, tracing, alerting, and operational dashboards
  • Collaborate with architects and senior engineers to review designs, recommend improvements, and ensure alignment with enterprise standards
  • Contribute to platform reliability, scalability, security, and performance optimization efforts
  • As a Platform Engineer, you will participate in code reviews and uphold engineering best practices, testing standards, and development guidelines
  • Troubleshoot production issues and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, and integration specifications
  • Work within Agile delivery teams while operating with a high degree of ownership and accountability

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Approximately 3+ years of software engineering, platform engineering, or cloud engineering experience
  • Strong development experience with Python
  • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and backend services
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Amazon EKS
  • Experience developing and deploying containerized applications using Docker
  • Experience leveraging GitHub for source control, branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Working knowledge of Java and experience supporting Java-based services
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services and cloud-native architectural patterns
  • Understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architecture concepts
  • Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently within established architectural guardrails
Preferred Qualifications:
  • AWS certification or Kubernetes certification
  • Experience in integrating enterprise identity solutions such as OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, Keycloak, Entra ID, or similar technologies
  • Experience implementing observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, Datadog, or related tools
  • Experience connecting to enterprise databases, APIs, and data platforms
  • Experience working in highly regulated or security-conscious environments
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
  • Exposure to AI, machine learning, or enterprise data platforms

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
