Description

Plating Parts Operator – Electroplating - 2nd shift (South Clearwater) $20-$22 an hour 3pm-1am Mon-Thurs (Training will be at Pinellas Park location 5am-3pm Monday-Thursday for approximately 2 weeks on day shift with Tom before going to Clearwater location and 2nd shift)
A Plating Parts Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining electroplating equipment to produce high-quality coated parts for customers in industries such as microwave, automotive, and industrial manufacturing.
Core Responsibilities
    1. Operating plating machines: Set up, operate, and tend rack or barrel plating lines to coat parts with metals such as chromium, zinc, copper, nickel, or other specified metals
    2. Pre-plating preparation: Immerse or spray parts into cleaning or conductive solutions to prepare them for plating
    3. Process control: Adjust machine controls, temperatures, and speeds to ensure consistent coating quality
    4. Quality inspection: Monitor parts during and after plating for defects such as air bubbles, uneven coverage, or dimensional deviations
    5. Material handling: Load/unload parts into and out of plating baths, position workpieces on feed carriages or spindles, and move parts through multiple plating lines
    6. Maintenance & safety: Test machinery for proper operation, perform routine maintenance, and follow safety protocols for chemical handling and waste disposal
    7. Record keeping: Maintain production records and log process parameters for quality control and traceability
Skills & Knowledge
    1. Understanding of electroplating processes (rack, barrel, microwave, and automated systems)
    2. Knowledge of chemical composition, safety, and disposal of plating solutions
    3. Ability to read and follow work orders and customer specifications
    4. Familiarity with quality control standards and in-house lab procedures (e.g., ChemTrak software, chemistry adjustments)
    5. Attention to detail, precision, and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-shift environment.
