Stand-By Personnel is seeking a skilled and dependable Plate Roll Operator to join a manufacturing team. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining plate rolling equipment used to form steel plates into cylinders, half cylinders, weld pads, and other fabricated components. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a heavy industrial environment and be committed to safety, quality, and productivity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operate plate roll equipment and related machinery in accordance with company procedures and production requirements.
Roll steel plates into cylinders, half cylinders, weld pads, and other fabricated products.
Load and position flat steel sheets into plate rolling machines and control equipment to achieve required specifications.
Work with materials ranging from thin gauge steel up to 1-inch thick plate.
Participate in pre-job planning, tool preparation, and post-job readiness activities.
Assist with planned maintenance activities and perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
Monitor machine performance and identify potential maintenance or operational issues.
Maintain adequate supplies and materials needed for daily operations.
Use measuring tools and equipment to verify dimensions and ensure product quality.
Follow production schedules and complete assigned work efficiently and accurately.
Assist team members and support departmental objectives as directed by supervisors and lead personnel.
Participate in housekeeping and work area organization efforts to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
Report safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, and quality issues promptly.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of experience operating plate roll equipment in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and fabrication drawings preferred.
Ability to accurately read tape measures, scales, and other measuring devices.
Experience using powered and manual hand tools.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to safely perform work while wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8 or more hours per shift.
Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and handling materials.
Must possess sufficient visual acuity and depth perception to safely operate equipment and inspect finished products.
Ability to safely lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds unassisted using proper lifting techniques.
Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and industrial equipment.
Ability to use hands and fingers effectively for operating machinery, tools, and measuring devices.
