A Plastics Extrusion Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and cost?effective operation of an extrusion manufacturing facility, ensuring that production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are met.Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement production schedules, coordinate daily operations of multiple plastic profile extruders, and ensure output meets customer demand with minimal overtime, inventory, and cost waste.
- Quality Control: Maintain product quality by enforcing quality standards, managing inspections, and ensuring compliance with customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Safety & Compliance: Champion a safety culture, ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulations, and maintain a safe work environment. Process & Equipment
- Oversight: Monitor and optimize molding/extrusion processes, troubleshoot equipment issues, and manage maintenance schedules.
- Cost & Efficiency: Analyze production costs, identify cost?saving opportunities, and implement lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, or Kaizen initiatives.
- Personnel Management: Supervise shift leaders, hire/train operators, coach and mentor staff, and address employee concerns.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead or support improvement projects, reduce downtime, and implement best practices.
- Reporting: Prepare production, quality, and safety reports; track KPIs such as cost per pound, weight efficiency, and safety records.
Key Skills & Qualifications Experience:
- 5+ years in plastics extrusion manufacturing production, with supervisory or management experience.
- Bilingual – English/Spanish
- Familiarity with PE resin, specifically recycled grades – LDPE; MDPE & HDPE
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or management (or equivalent experience).
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of extrusion processes, equipment operation, and quality control systems; ability to use production planning and analytics tools.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead multi?shift teams, mentor supervisors, and drive operational improvements.
- Problem?Solving: Strong troubleshooting and decision?making skills in a fast?paced environment. and quality management skills, ensuring that the plant runs safely, efficiently, and profitably while meeting customer and regulatory requirements.
