Description

Automation Engineer

Lead automation, tooling, and capital equipment projects from concept through implementation. Develop and execute automation strategies that improve productivity, quality, and scalability. Serve as the technical lead for robotics, automation systems, controls, and manufacturing process integration. Design fixtures, tooling, and mechanical components using CAD software. Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Tooling, and Quality teams to establish robust production processes. Identify root causes of manufacturing issues and implement long-term corrective actions. Support new product introductions and equipment validation activities. Drive continuous improvement projects focused on reducing waste, downtime, and operational costs. Establish and monitor key performance indicators related to automation performance and process capability. Develop automation standards, best practices, and documentation. Mentor engineers, technicians, and other technical personnel. Support machine safety initiatives, risk assessments, and compliance activities.

Ideal Candidate: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in automation engineering, manufacturing engineering, robotics, or a related discipline. Proven success leading automation projects within a manufacturing environment. Strong PLC programming, troubleshooting, and controls experience. Hands-on experience with robotics integration, programming, and optimisation (3-axis, 5-axis, or 6-axis systems). Knowledge of vision systems, sensors, motion control systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics. Experience designing end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), fixtures, and automation solutions. Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD platforms. Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. Understanding of industrial networking, automation communication protocols, and machine safety standards. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills. Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies, advanced automation systems, or additive manufacturing is a plus.
