We’re a modern, highly automated commercial bakery with a strong safety and quality culture. As a Plant Utilities Systems Specialist, you’ll keep the backbone of our operation—refrigeration, boilers, HVAC, water, and compressed air—running at peak performance.
Compensation & schedule
- Status: Hourly
- Pay: $36.00–$42.00 per hour
- Shift: Nights, 5pm–5am (2-2-3 rotation)
- Bonus: $5,000 sign-on bonus
- Reports to: Facilities Manager

What you’ll tackle
- Run, monitor, and service ammonia (NH) refrigeration systems.
- Operate/repair boilers, HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air compressors, air dryers, and freezers.
- Maintain water treatment, potable/non‑potable, sanitary, and stormwater systems.
- Repair rapid roll-up doors, hot water systems, and core building infrastructure (roof included).
- Coordinate with Maintenance and production teams to meet operational goals.
- Support compliance with IIAR, ASHRAE, ASME, EPA, OSHA, and state/local requirements.
- Apply PSM principles and strong mechanical troubleshooting to reduce downtime.
Day-to-day focuses
- Lead with safety and complete assigned PMs.
- Track system performance and analyze trends to fine-tune maintenance intervals.
- Document contractor activities for refrigeration assets; help sustain the PSM program.
- Serve on Emergency Response Team and train techs on refrigeration operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Must-haves
- 5+ years in industrial ammonia refrigeration operations/maintenance.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proficiency with multi-stage ammonia compression and liquid recirculation.
- Comfort with complex controls such as GEA or Frick; able to read P&IDs.
- Experience with screw compressors, evaporative condensers, and room evaporators.
- Knowledge of IIAR safety standards; boiler operation/inspection experience.
- LOTO, PPE, and HazCom fluency; can explain refrigeration cycle physics.
Preferred
- Associate’s degree in HVACR or Refrigeration/Electrical, RETA/CIRO credentials, or trade certification.
- Plumbing/pipefitting skills; maintenance of air compressors, dryers, roll-up and dock doors/levelers.
- Strong computer skills (spreadsheets, databases, word processing).
