Plant Manager


Position Summary

The Plant Manager is responsible for full operational and financial accountability of this plant location. This includes delivering on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and customer commitments while building the capabilities of the team. The role requires a leader who can move seamlessly between the shop floor and the boardroom equally fluent in reading blueprints and financials. The Plant Manager will drive measurable performance improvements and lead the company s operations into the next phase of competitiveness and growth.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead daily plant operations to achieve safety, financial, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity goals.
  • Develop and execute production strategies, schedules, and priorities to meet customer demand while optimizing resources and controlling costs.
  • Partner with procurement, supply chain, planning, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to maximize operational efficiency and ensure product conformance.
  • Drive continuous improvement by applying Lean, Six Sigma, and related tools to reduce waste, increase throughput, and improve safety. Hold teams accountable for adopting standard work and behaviors that sustain progress.
  • Analyze performance metrics, financial results, and operational reports to identify trends, resolve problems, and drive corrective and preventive actions (RCCA).
  • Oversee development and adherence to budgets, cost controls, and financial targets.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Champion change management strategies that support growth, innovation, and organizational agility.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Maintain accurate production and employee training records, submitting to HR as required.
  • Key performance metrics: Safety performance, Plant-level revenue contribution, on-time delivery performance, product quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly manage 7 10 supervisors with overall leadership responsibility for 100 110 employees.
  • Set measurable team and individual objectives tied to plant KPIs; review and hold supervisors accountable for delivery.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and mentor employees; support career development and succession planning.
  • Build a high-performance culture that emphasizes safety, accountability, and results.
  • Coach supervisors in performance management, conflict resolution, and employee engagement.
  • Address employee relations matters fairly and consistently.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field required; Master s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in continuous improvement and Lean/Six Sigma environments.
  • Proven track record in managing high-mix/low-volume manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in heavy manufacturing with metals is preferred.
  • ERP experience required; Epicor preferred.

  • Strong results orientation with the ability to set and achieve ambitious goals.
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated success in change management and organizational transformation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Financial literacy with experience in budgeting, cost control, and resource optimization.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing process design, RCCA, and supply chain management.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a focus on employee development and team building.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable improvements in safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
