The right individual will have a can-do attitude, the ability to be part of a team while operating independently and consistently performs to very high standards.

    The Dorado Plant Manager is responsible for directing, coordinating, and overseeing all plant operations, ensuring they are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company objectives.

    The position has overall responsibility for Dorado's operational areas, including Production, Logistics and Deliveries, Production Planning, Quality and Laboratory, Maintenance, Safety and Health, Materials, NSF, and Training, among others.

    The Plant Manager will work closely and collaboratively with all departments, including Sales, Technical Services, Commercial, and Customer Service, to ensure plant operations effectively support customer and business needs.

    Key Responsibilities

    Plant Leadership and Management

    • Direct and oversee the daily operations of the Dorado plant.
    • Ensure all operational areas work in a coordinated manner and remain aligned with company priorities.
    • Establish priorities, monitor performance, and promptly address issues that may affect safety, production, quality, deliveries, or operational continuity.
    • Work closely with department leaders, promoting communication, collaboration, and accountability.
    • Develop employees, identify training needs, and support the professional growth of the team.
    • Keep the Regional Manager informed of plant performance, risks, needs, and improvement opportunities.

    Production and Planning

    • Oversee the execution of production plans and ensure they are aligned with customer demand, plant capacity, and material availability.
    • Coordinate with Production, Planning, Logistics, and Customer Service to establish priorities and meet delivery commitments.
    • Monitor productivity, efficiency, equipment utilization, and adherence to production schedules.
    • Identify and promote opportunities to improve manufacturing processes.

    Logistics, Deliveries, and Materials

    • Oversee logistics activities and the coordination of finished product deliveries.
    • Ensure effective communication among Production, Logistics, Transportation, and Customer Service.
    • Monitor the availability of materials required to maintain operational continuity.
    • Coordinate with the appropriate departments to plan material and inventory requirements.
    • Oversee inventory processes and support accurate records and month-end closing activities.

    Quality, Laboratory, and NSF

    • Ensure plant operations comply with product specifications, quality procedures, and applicable requirements.
    • Work closely with the Quality and Laboratory Manager to ensure compliance with testing programs, quality control, and product release procedures.
    • Support the investigation and resolution of quality-related issues.
    • Ensure NSF-related requirements and programs are maintained.
    • Support audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities related to quality and compliance.

    Maintenance and Infrastructure

    • Oversee the coordination of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
    • Ensure equipment and facilities are maintained in safe and reliable operating condition.
    • Work with Maintenance and Engineering to identify, plan, and execute improvement and capital projects.
    • Monitor infrastructure, reliability, and operational efficiency needs.

    Safety, Health, and Compliance

    • Promote a strong safety culture throughout all areas of the plant.
    • Ensure compliance with company Safety, Health, and Environmental policies, as well as applicable procedures and regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee the implementation of training, inspections, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
    • Ensure work is performed in accordance with established procedures and required safety controls.
    • Work closely with Safety personnel and other departments to prevent incidents and promote a safe work environment.

    Personnel Administration

    • Supervise and support Dorado operations employees.
    • Review and approve payroll and PTO requests for all Dorado operations employees, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
    • Coordinate staffing needs, operational coverage, and vacation planning.
    • Support hiring, training, performance evaluation, and employee development processes.
    • Ensure employees have the resources, tools, and training necessary to perform their responsibilities.

    Commercial and Customer Service Support

    • Work collaboratively with Sales, Technical Services, Commercial, and Customer Service.
    • Support operational planning and coordination to meet customer needs and commitments.
    • Participate in the evaluation of issues related to products, deliveries, production capacity, and technical needs.
    • Maintain effective communication with commercial teams to facilitate decision-making and problem resolution.

    Training and Support to Other Plants

    • Ensure Dorado employees receive the training required to perform their responsibilities safely and effectively.
    • Identify training needs and coordinate development opportunities.
    • Be available to travel outside Puerto Rico for training, meetings, or to provide support to other company plants, provided such travel is planned and coordinated in advance.

    Requirements and Qualifications

    • Experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in the chemical industry or a related industrial environment.
    • Experience supervising employees and coordinating multiple operational areas.
    • Knowledge of production processes, logistics, inventory, quality, maintenance, and safety.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with different departments and levels of the organization.
    • Strong leadership, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to establish priorities and make decisions in a dynamic operational environment.
    • Knowledge of production, inventory, and business management systems.
    • Bilingual in Spanish and English, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Availability to travel outside Puerto Rico for training and support to other plants, based on business needs and with advance planning.

    Scope of the Position

    The Plant Manager will have overall responsibility for all Dorado operations, ensuring that departments work together to achieve the plant's safety, quality, production, delivery, and performance objectives.

    This responsibility will be exercised in coordination with the leaders of each area and in accordance with company policies, procedures, and established levels of authority.
