Saint-Gobain ZirPro in Bow NH specializes in the production of zirconia powder used for their mechanical and thermal properties in a range of applications, such as thermal coating for the aeronautics industry, piezo electric ceramics, or pigments for ceramic tiles.

Plan, organize and execute short, medium and long-range plant strategies for Zirpro to achieve sales, service, quality and profit goals, per the Business Strategy for the manufacturing operations in Bow, NH. Plan, direct and lead the manufacturing, engineering, finance, customer service, MIS and process development functions.

  • Organize and lead all plant manufacturing functions including finance, engineering, customer service and MIS. Insure longer-term facility and capacity needs. Plan implementation of new products. Coordinate activities with Sales and marketing to accomplish common business goals. Execute manufacturing strategy.
  • Provide for technical support to the business for product enhancements, process improvements and quality issues.
  • Direct total factory resource and retention efforts, achieve effective utilization of human resources, improve teamwork and management control systems, empower, coach and develop staff/factory personnel.
  • Assist Sales and Marketing in strategic planning process and then roll into focused manufacturing programs.
  • Maintain close communication and planning relationship with Marketing/Sales/R&D to plan/implement new products consistent with the business strategy. Be involved with customers through visits and hosting visits to the facility.

Background/Skills: The incumbent requires a strong technical and engineering aptitude. Must have an undergraduate degree in Engineering or Materials Science, an MBA is preferred, and/or 10 years equivalent management experience with a strong overall business aptitude. Direct plant management or operational management experience of a minimum of 5 years is required.

He/she must have very strong organizational, interpersonal, management, communication, and team building skills. The incumbent needs to have an excellent understanding of manufacturing including the ability to see broad business issues and be able to develop and execute plans towards objectives. He/she must be able to lead by example, allocate resources and utilize sound judgment to achieve the desired end results. He/she must be a strong communicator, both written and oral, to management as well as reports both direct and indirect.

To make sure nothing is forgotten

The incumbent manages all aspects of the Z-Tech facilities to achieve operational and financial targets set forth by the General Manager. The incumbent plans production to ensure product quality, customer service and safety. The incumbent is expected to manage the production of zirconium oxide powders utilizing multiple processes. He/she also interacts with other functions within the business, i.e., sales, customer service, purchasing, R&D, etc. to ensure production plans meet the needs of the business. He/she is expected to implement and manage quality assurance systems and measures as well as oversee the site's WCM (World Class Manufacturing) program. He/she is also expected to interact with vendors as well as customers as the need arises.

The incumbent is also responsible for preparation of financial information required by the business, including but not limited to variable and fixed manufacturing variances, inventory, and capital. In addition, the incumbent will complete monthly financials, strategic plans for the site, as well as the annual budget.
