Are you ready to work in a dynamic environment at the Fiveash Water Treatment Plant? The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking dedicated individuals to perform essential maintenance duties as we transition to the new Prospect Lake Plant. This is a temporary full-time position with a potential contract term of up to three years. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Ft. Lauderdale while contributing to a vital community service.

Perform essential maintenance tasks at the treatment plant, including:

• Cleaning and minor repairs of tanks, buildings, and restrooms
• Trash pick-up and recovery basin sludge removal
• General maintenance of municipal facilities, such as mopping and sweeping floors
• Ordering and refilling cleaning supplies and paper products
• Handling equipment setup and minor repairs
• Disposing of plant grit, trash, and rags
• Complying with safety regulations and standard operating procedures
• Working around high voltage rotating equipment and hazardous chemicals
• Maintaining parking lots and grounds, including mowing and related activities
• Operating heavy equipment such as front loaders and VAC trucks
• Performing related work as required

Requirements

• High School Diploma, G.E.D, or equivalent
• Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly
• Fluency in English (written and verbal)

Preferences

• Experience in facility maintenance or a similar role

Work schedules vary, with operators working three shifts: 7am–3pm, 3pm–11pm, and 11pm–7am. Mechanics and electricians typically work 7am–3pm, with overtime as needed.
