Description

We are seeking a leadership-oriented Plant Maintenance Supervisor to direct our facility's maintenance mechanics and oversee day-to-day equipment operations. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Director, this position exercises independent judgment in managing shift assignments, overseeing preventive maintenance (PM) programs and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), enforcing safety standards, and minimizing plant downtime.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervisory Leadership & Personnel ManagementDirectly supervise, schedule, plan, and direct the daily work of Maintenance Mechanics across operating shifts.Manage recruitment and staffing workflows: participate in interviewing, hiring, shift scheduling, vacation approvals, On-the-Job Training (OJT) programs, and weekly payroll reporting.Evaluate team performance, provide routine guidance, reward achievements, and handle performance management and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy.Foster team development through instruction, active coaching, and continuous improvement training.Systems, PM & Operational ExecutionOversee the plant's Preventive Maintenance (PM) program and maintain full operational data within the CMMS.Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work order records, labor tracking, and spare parts inventory.Deliver real-time diagnostic support and root-cause problem analysis for complex equipment failures.Manage relationships with outside vendors for specialized equipment service, parts procurement, and contracted repairs.Assist engineering and plant leadership with the planning, layout, and installation of new or upgraded manufacturing machinery.Provide continuous operational status updates to the management team and escalate major mechanical challenges with actionable solution proposals.Safety & Regulatory ComplianceExecute and enforce all company safety policies, workplace safety procedures, and OSHA regulations across the maintenance department.Oversee team compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) per 21 CFR Section 110, ensuring immediate reporting and resolution of potential food safety risks.Inspect work sites, equipment, and tools to verify safe operational conditions and appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Position RequirementsEducation & ExperienceEducation: High School Diploma or GED required.Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of hands-on experience in a multi-craft industrial maintenance environment.Technical & Software Skills: Proficient in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint).Key CompetenciesTechnical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and equipment maintenance principles.Leadership & Decision-Making: Strong critical thinking, personnel management, time management, and complex problem-solving abilities.Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills for team instruction, management reporting, and vendor negotiations.Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentShift Flexibility: Exempt supervisory role requiring schedule adaptability to cover varied operational shifts, emergencies, and facility priorities.Work Conditions: Active involvement on the plant floor; environment subject to seasonal temperature variations (heat/cold).Physical Ability: Position involves standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Full vision and hearing capability required for plant safety.
