Integrated Talent Strategies (ITS) is seeking Plant Maintenance Workers to work with a reputable energy and utility company in the Moundsville, WV area.
Job Summary
This position supports daily plant operations by performing plant maintenance, equipment monitoring, cleaning, and general labor duties. The role involves working around industrial equipment and plant systems, assisting with equipment operation and inspections, maintaining a clean and safe facility, and responding to operational and emergency needs.
The position requires employees to work safely in an industrial power plant environment and be comfortable working outdoors and in various weather conditions.
Essential Job Functions
- • Assist with preparing, operating, monitoring, isolating, and placing plant equipment in and out of service as directed.
- • Monitor and inspect plant equipment and report abnormal conditions or equipment issues to the supervisor.
- • Operate local and remote controls and assist with the safe operation of plant equipment and systems.
- • Service, clean, inspect, lubricate, and make minor adjustments or repairs to plant equipment.
- • Patrol and inspect material conveying equipment for issues such as hot bearings, plugged chutes, and material buildup.
- • Assist with operating, cleaning, inspecting, and making minor repairs or adjustments to equipment including pulverizers, feeders, fans, dampers, burners, air heaters, oil lighters, ignitors, sootblowers, pumps, and similar plant equipment.
- • Assist with testing plant equipment and systems for leaks and help locate and correct leaks when welding is not required.
- • Assist with dismantling, cleaning, inspecting, reassembling, and making minor repairs to small motors, pumps, fans, and similar equipment.
- • Sweep, wash, clean, and paint buildings, floors, equipment, and other plant areas.
- • Wash down concrete areas and roadways to remove coal and ash dust, sludge, and other materials.
- • Shovel coal spillage onto conveyors and assist with maintaining clean work areas.
- • Remove trash and clean spills throughout the plant.
- • Perform snow removal and fill kerosene heaters as needed.
- • Respond to emergency and fire alarms as assigned and participate in required emergency response, firefighting, and first aid training.
- • Follow all company safety rules, OSHA requirements, environmental guidelines, plant procedures, and operating practices.
- • Communicate equipment and plant conditions to supervisors and other operators by phone, radio, or in person.
- • Assist other employees as needed and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Related industrial, mechanical, power plant, maintenance, military, or equipment experience is preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be willing and able to respond to callouts during both outage and non-outage periods based on business needs.
- Must be able to learn and follow plant operating procedures, safety practices, and environmental requirements.
- Must be able to read and understand written instructions, manuals, and basic prints or specifications.
- Must be able to learn and safely operate tools, equipment, controls, and plant systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must demonstrate dependable and professional conduct when working with employees, contractors, and others.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs throughout the workday.
- Ability to work on elevated platforms, grating, catwalks, and other industrial structures.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including shifts of up to 12 hours when required.
- Ability to use fine dexterity to operate switches, controls, and other equipment.
- Ability to hear plant announcements and identify abnormal equipment sounds.
- Ability to distinguish colors used on alarms, equipment, and other devices.
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of pressure to manually operate valves.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and industrial environments.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Employees must be flexible and willing to work varying or rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and callouts as operational needs require.
