A day in the life

It’s 6:55 a.m. and you’re scanning overnight notes before taking a quick walk-through of the production floor. You prioritize a preventive maintenance route, torque-check a gearbox, and verify oil levels on critical pumps. Mid-morning, a conveyor stalls—after locking and tagging out, you trace the issue to a worn sprocket, swap in a new one, realign the chain, and bring the line back up safely. Later, you review a new machine install plan, interpret the prints, and lend a hand with a small weld repair before closing out accurate work orders. You wrap up with a tidy, organized workspace—ready for whatever comes next.

What you’ll tackle

  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on plant machinery and production equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems to reduce downtime.
  • Proactively inspect equipment to spot issues before they become failures.
  • Replace components including bearings, chains, sprockets, motors, pumps, gearboxes, and related parts.
  • Support equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical drawings.
  • Perform welding and light fabrication repairs as needed.
  • Document maintenance activities and complete work orders with accuracy.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  • Partner with production to minimize downtime and maximize performance.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
  • Respond to urgent calls and equipment breakdowns as they arise.
