Shape the Safety Culture, Every Day

Step into a role where your decisions immediately influence people’s wellbeing and operational excellence. As the EHS leader for our site, you’ll guide the daily operations of the Safety function, drive environmental, health, and safety strategy, and help craft the policies and practices that keep our teams protected and productive.

A day in the role

Morning starts with a quick floor walk and check-in with operations, maintenance, and HR to surface any emerging risks. You’ll review incidents or near-misses from the prior shift, ensure investigations are underway, and confirm corrective actions are owned and progressing. Midday might include leading a Human Performance learning team, refining procedures and work instructions ahead of an internal audit, or co-facilitating a targeted safety training with our training department. In the afternoon, you could be coordinating an emergency response drill—designating responders, confirming readiness, and scheduling future exercises—before closing the day by updating metrics, prepping a business case for an improvement, and aligning with leadership on EHS program priorities.

What you’ll do

  • Develop, implement, and sustain EHS policies, procedures, and programs that meet or exceed OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with the training team to deliver engaging, role-specific safety training that fosters a safe and secure work environment.
  • Oversee investigations of work-related injuries and illnesses, including all accidents, near-misses, and areas of concern; ensure effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Champion Human Performance principles using practical tools and event learning teams to strengthen learning and reduce risk.
  • Identify hazards across operations and collaborate with operations, maintenance, and HR to mitigate those risks.
  • Assist with Workers’ Compensation claims for the plant.
  • Organize and facilitate the employee Safety Committee to amplify employee voice and engagement in safety.
  • Lead audits and inspections to detect existing or potential hazards; follow through to confirm corrective measures are implemented and effective.
  • Coordinate emergency response readiness across medical, chemical, fire, and evacuation/rescue scenarios, including designating responders, training, and drills.

Impact

This position is a key conduit for implementing company policies, procedures, and practices. The quality of our products is directly tied to the effectiveness of the person in this role. Broad, current technical knowledge ensures standards are met and efficiencies maintained—while strong problem-solving and sound decision-making drive success.

What you bring

  • BS in safety, industrial hygiene, or an environmental discipline, plus 5+ years of EHS or closely related experience.
  • Preferred certifications: CIH, CSP, and/or CHP.
  • Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and relevant state regulations.
  • Hands-on experience with hazardous materials, air permits, and environmental reporting.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative team player; effective in both group and independent, cooperative work.
  • Ability to perform under pressure, prioritize conflicting deadlines, respond to emergencies, and work flexible hours as needed.

Compensation

Estimated base range: $100,000–$120,000 + bonus + benefits. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target across all U.S. locations. Individual pay depends on job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. It is uncommon to start at the top of the range; compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case.

Benefits

401(k) with company match; comprehensive medical, dental, and vision; flexible spending and health savings accounts; paid vacation and sick days; free onsite clinic; paid parental leave; paid holidays; and a wellness program.
