Job Description
Position Summary
The Plant Electrician is responsible for the safe installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and improvement of electrical systems throughout the manufacturing facility. This includes plant electrical distribution, transformers, panels, disconnects, lighting, motors, motor controls, production machinery, and industrial control systems.
A primary responsibility of this position is supporting the facility's electrical infrastructure and new equipment installations. The Plant Electrician will evaluate electrical requirements, perform basic load calculations, and properly specify and size electrical equipment such as transformers, conductors, fuses, circuit breakers, disconnects, panels, and raceways. This position will also install and modify electrical systems, run conduit, pull and terminate wire, maintain electrical documentation, and lead or coordinate electrical projects involving outside contractors.
The Plant Electrician will also provide electrical troubleshooting and maintenance support for production equipment, including motors, VFDs, contactors, starters, sensors, relays, and control circuits. The successful candidate must be able to diagnose electrical problems efficiently, identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, and complete work in accordance with applicable electrical codes, NFPA 70E, OSHA requirements, and company safety procedures.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled, self-directed electrician with strong industrial and commercial electrical experience who can troubleshoot complex electrical problems while also planning and executing facility electrical installations and improvements. The ability to work independently, communicate effectively with maintenance, engineering, production, and contractors, and maintain accurate electrical documentation is essential to the role.

Successful candidates should demonstrate strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, a safety-first mindset, good communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize repairs in a fast-paced production environment. The Plant Electrician must be comfortable working independently while also collaborating with maintenance and production teams.
Physical Requirements
The position regularly requires standing and walking for extended periods; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, kneeling, reaching, and working in confined or elevated areas; using hand and power tools; and lifting or moving up to approximately 50 pounds. Employees may be exposed to noise, heat, moving machinery, electrical equipment, and other conditions typical of an industrial manufacturing environment.

Safety is an essential function of this position. The Plant Electrician is expected to comply with all company safety policies and applicable electrical safety requirements, including proper use of PPE, Lockout/Tagout procedures, machine guarding requirements, and established safe electrical work practices. Employees should immediately report unsafe conditions and stop work when conditions present an unacceptable safety risk.
