Description:
The Planner III is a strategic supply chain professional responsible for procurement, materials management, supplier strategy, inbound transportation, and supply continuity. The role drives cost optimization, supplier performance, risk mitigation, digital enablement, and cross-functional collaboration within a CPG/manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop and execute procurement/category strategies for raw materials, packaging, and indirect spend.
Lead supplier selection, contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management.
Drive cost optimization, productivity, and value creation initiatives.
Manage large spend portfolios and maintain financial accountability.
Establish inventory targets, performance metrics, and materials governance.
Manage material start-ups, replenishment, run-outs, obsolescence, and inventory exposure.
Partner with Finance on liability management, inventory exposure, and write-off processes.
Develop and manage inbound transportation strategies supporting manufacturing and distribution.
Identify and mitigate supplier, logistics, inventory, and supply continuity risks.
Support product launches, commercialization, sourcing, and innovation initiatives.
Develop transition plans to ensure seamless supply during changes and demand fluctuations.
Use SAP and supply chain systems for data transparency, reporting, and decision-making.
Implement digital procurement capabilities, automation workflows, analytics dashboards, and e-sourcing tools.
Drive continuous improvement across procurement, materials, and logistics processes.
Provide senior leadership with reporting and insights on cost, service, risk, supplier performance, and working capital.
Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, Logistics, Finance, Commercial, and Executive leadership.
Ensure compliance with procurement governance standards and ethical sourcing practices.
Skills:
Strong strategic procurement and supply chain management experience.
Expertise in supplier strategy, supplier negotiations, and category management.
Strong materials management and inventory planning experience.
Advanced SAP experience required.
Experience with procurement and supply chain systems.
Strong cost optimization and financial analysis skills.
Experience with inbound transportation and logistics.
Strong risk mitigation and supply continuity knowledge.
Experience with digital procurement, automation, and analytics.
Excellent executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
CPG or manufacturing experience preferred.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field required.
MBA preferred.
Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Materials Management, and/or Transportation.
Proven leadership experience within CPG, manufacturing, or a similar environment.
Demonstrated experience with supplier negotiations, category strategy, and cost optimization.
Experience managing large spend portfolios and complex supplier networks.
Strong financial acumen and governance mindset.
End-to-end experience across procurement, materials, transportation, and supply chain operations.
