Description

Job Goal To assist in providing appropriate educational experiences for students in the Pre School classroom. This position will focus on providing both academic and socialemotional support for all students within the Pre School program through effectively provid ing small and large group instruction by implementing early learning strategies. This position will also be responsible for implementing classroom behavior management plans as w ell Behavior Inte rvention Plans . This position will work in all day Pre School and Support Behavior for the remainder of the day for MAE students as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and A.A. B.A. or B.S. degree or 72 college quarter hours or 48 semester credits are required or pass the ETS ParaPro Assessme nt at applicants expense. Training andor experience working with preschool age children. Training experience andor certification as a Registered Behavior Technic ian. Training andor experience working with students with various disabilities. andor physically aggressive behaviors. School related experience working with students in academic areas. Demonstrated knowledge andor training in child development and learning principles preferred. Able to position students in appropriate equipment s ee Performance Responsibilities. Demonstrated proficiency in the basic communication skills. Demonstrated ability to accurately perform clerical tasks. Computer skills. Ability to follow directions. Ability to lift a student using a 1 2 or 3 person lift approximately 50 lbs. Ability to position students in appropriate equipment. Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with students teachers parents specialists and administrators. Ability to operate school office and instructional equipment. Ability to work independently. Ability to safely work with students who may need sanitation help or bodily fluid needs. Ability to be physically responsive. WA State Food Handlers Card and CPR Required. Assist with data collection of IEP goals Implement IEP goals and objectives prescribed behavior plans by providing largesmall group and individual instruction in general education and or special education. Provide direct support to students in a classroom by delivering instruction and ensuring learning through a variety of co -teaching models and strategies as directed by the classroom teacher . Identify students to facilitate their success and progress. Maintain flexibility to meet the changing needs of students. Provide input to the teacher on individual needs of students. Prepare for parentteacher conferences as required. Display appropriate role model for students and be able to interact in a positive manner with children. Exercises and exhibits good communication skills with co -workers administration and others. Locate and prepare materials as needed for instructional purposes. Monitor the use of any equipment provided by OTPTSLP and or school psychologist. Complete clerical duties that relate to the program. Participate in school activities that involve the students e.g. special events luncheons school -wide progr ams etc. as directed by immediate supervisor. Attend building staff meetings. Handle discipline and disruptive problems within the group. High expectations for all students Attention to closing achievement gaps Prepare adaptive materials for individual st udent needs. Be able to assist student during therapy andor classroom activities and all other school related settings. This will involve being able to lift squat move quickly sit on the floor in different positions etc. Willing to learn alternative communication techniques needed such as signing communication boards electronic communication systems etc. Must be flexible and willing to work with students of all abilities. Perform other duties as directed by the supervisors Building Principal TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This position is a part of the PSE bargain ing unit and salary will be based on VOE.
