A day in this role
You arrive on site, open the blueprint set, and map out the routing for a new process line. With calipers in hand, you mark cuts, prep lengths, and move from bench to field: threading where needed, soldering select joints, and welding structural tie-ins. You build supports and hangers to spec, coordinate rigging to set runs in place, then pressure-test and troubleshoot until the system is tight and ready.
What you’ll handle
- Read and interpret blueprints to plan piping layouts
- Measure and cut pipe accurately using tools such as calipers
- Assemble and install both metal and non‑metal piping
- Perform pipe threading and soldering operations
- Fabricate and install pipe supports, hangers, and related hardware
- Execute rigging operations for safe pipe installation
- Inspect, test, and troubleshoot systems for leaks or defects
What you bring
- Proven pipefitting experience, including fabrication and assembly
- Welding proficiency: SMAW (stick), GMAW (MIG), and GTAW (TIG)
- Comfort with power tools for cutting, shaping, and drilling pipe
- Solid basic math skills for measurements and takeoffs
Where you’ll apply your craft
Projects span industries such as construction, manufacturing, and energy—wherever reliable piping systems are essential.
