Job Summary

We are seeking a Piping Engineer to join our engineering team supporting the design and delivery of large-scale modular hyperscale data center infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for the mechanical and piping scope throughout the project lifecycle, including engineering design, manufacturing support, construction, testing, installation, and commissioning.

 

Job Description

  • Develop, review, and approve mechanical and piping engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation in accordance with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Support the design and development of modular data center mechanical systems.
  • Prepare engineering deliverables including: Valve lists, Equipment lists, Piping line lists, Piping stress and flexibility analyses, Pipe sizing calculations, Mechanical equipment data sheets, Material Take-Offs (MTOs), Bills of Materials (BOMs), Technical Requisitions (TRs)
  • Perform piping stress analysis and flexibility studies using industry-standard software.
  • Review vendor quotations and provide technical recommendations to procurement.
  • Specify mechanical equipment, piping systems, insulation, coatings, supports, brackets, and mounting systems.
  • Provide piping load information to structural engineering teams.
  • Develop and review project-specific Design Basis documents.
  • Support manufacturing teams during fabrication and module assembly.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, installation, and commissioning, including responding to RFIs and troubleshooting field issues.
  • Participate in customer meetings, design reviews, and project coordination activities.
  • Review as-built drawings and validate engineering calculations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project quality, cost, constructability, and schedule through innovative engineering solutions.
  • Stay current on industry standards, codes, and emerging technologies related to mechanical systems and data center infrastructure.

 

Skills Required

  • 3-15 years of mechanical and piping engineering experience.
  • EPC engineering project experience.
  • Strong mechanical design experience.
  • Experience with modular engineering design.
  • Strong knowledge of piping systems, layouts, routing, and mechanical equipment.
  • Experience performing piping stress analysis.
  • Familiarity with mechanical equipment data sheets, piping documentation, and technical requisitions.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing data center infrastructure or other mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience with:, Chillers, Cooling towers, Evaporative cooling systems, Pumps, Heat exchangers, Pressure vessels, Mechanical control systems, Fire suppression systems
  • Experience with fast-track EPC or design-build projects.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems as they relate to mechanical design.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and permitting processes.

 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (other engineering degrees with relevant experience may be considered).

 

Additional requirements

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
  • Subsea engineering experience is considered relevant and transferable.

 

Pay rate

  • $90,000 - $135,000 per year (Compensation is offered based on experience, skills, and market factors)
  • 10% - 20% performance bonus based on experience
